Cheryl Evans has been a good friend of mine for the past 12 years and, in passing at school one day, I asked if she could get my family up and running with a computer. The family needed to be able to look up things on the internet and I was the first to admit I knew nothing!! We went shopping and came home with two computers (one for the house and one for the office, a bit like buses –none for ages then two appear!).
Apart from our usual business of farming we had decided to convert a barn for self-catering accommodation and we really needed to be on the internet. Cheryl saw to it all, from taking photographs to even designing a leaflet describing the cottage, all of which eventually became our web-site. I do not think I would have known where to start, but she was brilliant and still is. Cheryl even now upgrades everything on my web-site, and is always there to talk me through any problems we encounter. If she comes across anything which she thinks will benefit us she lets us know instantly.
To begin with we had most of our bookings through an agent, but over the last 18-24 months the majority of the bookings now come from our own web-site.
I always feel that Cheryl under-sells herself, she is absolutely brilliant at her job and I could not cope without her. |
